Great Things I Noticed this Week:
- Great conversations in our PD and staff meetings focused on what our students need and problem-solving how to improve structures to ensure success for our students. There were so many great reflections shared, along with connections made between staff. It is these conversations that help us to work together for our students, along with sharing great ideas with each other for the first week of school. Thank you for your collaboration!
- You all tried a new tool to connect with our families. Way to go with your flipgrid videos. If you're thinking about this as a possible classroom tool, keep scrolling down.
- SO many excited students and parents back in the building looking forward to the school year.

"Nuts & Bolts" Notes:
*Next week I will have the testing schedule for you.
*Here's a video you can use in your advisories to teach students about email etiquette: Student Email Tips
*One of the greatest factor that has negative impact on a student’s learning is mobility (with an effect size of -0.34…that’s right negative). But this does not mean a our transient students are doomed to fail. There are things we can do. For example, if the student makes a new friend within two weeks, it begins to wipe out the effect. That is something that we have control over in our classrooms and can easily ensure that we have strategies to welcome students into our school. I will be emailing out a list of students who are new to our school so you can be mindful of this and try to help them make connections with peers during their transition to Dodgeland.
It's almost go time! Always remember...it doesn't matter if you have been in your classroom for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years. When students enter your door on Tuesday, it will be their first. The awe of what you have on your walls will last minutes. The feeling they have when they look into your eyes and you make them feel safe, cared for, and excited about this year is what they will always remember. So, go get it! Change lives! Make it awesome!
Tech Tip of the Week
Learning More About Schoology. Schoology PD course will be available to you today, in Schoology! There are many different ways to learn something new about Schoology: Quick Resources, Videos and Self-Paced Courses. Also, there will be an XPD offering about creating materials but also with a student present so we can see how students can retrieve materials, work on something and submit them back to us.
